Mad Science
Their spectacular shows were part of the Brownie Big Four and Mad Science for Juniors.  Now, Mad Science offers hands-on workshops for your troop!  Using the same edu-taining techniques as seen in their shows, the Mad Scientists will bring fun science directly to your troop ... watch a marshmallow grow HUGE!  Make your own Wave Motion Modulator!  Listen to the radio…with your teeth!  Choose from dozens of age-appropriate one-hour workshops, including Slippery Science, Wacky Weather, Under Pressure and Dinosaurs, and badge workshops.  Mad Scientists bring all of the equipment necessary and handle all setup and cleanup.  All you provide are the girls and the curiosity!  $140 for up to 30 girls (feel free to combine troops!).  Additional travel fee may be required in some areas.  For more info, visit www.MadScience.org/SouthernMass, email Mad.Science@comcast.net or call 800 748 7144.
 
 
Children’s Museum in Easton

Special workshops offer activities to qualify Brownies for Try-its. Creative, experienced teachers make the topics come alive! For a list of the most popular programs, contact the museum. You can select and schedule an individualized workshop.
Tues-Fri, Oct-May, 4:00-5:30 (or weekends, by special arrangement); $8-9pp, includes Try-it.
Overnight programs are available. Packages include an evening of exploring museum exhibits, an optional Try-it workshop, videos for bedtime viewing, bedtime snacks and breakfast.

Battleship Cove Nautical Nights
Fall River
Spend a night in the restored, climate-controlled ships’ quarters on Battleship Massachusetts. Sleep in authentic crew bunks, eat in the Officer’s Wardroom, and solve problems that the crew faced over half a century ago.
Overnights are available year-round. Program includes 3 meals, 2 presentations and a chance to work on the Wave the Flag Try-It.

Thousands of years before European explorers arrived, Native Americans made their homes here and called themselves “Massachusett,” or “people of the great hills.” Educational programs by Rangers are offered on weekends.

Blue Hill Observatory Science Center
The Observatory is the principal structure associated with the history of weather observation in the USA. This year’s exciting programs include Kites and the Troposphere, Observing Weather, guided hikes, Clouds, Balance and Spinning Toys and Weather on the Web.

Blue Hills Trailside Museum
This museum features cultural and natural history exhibits including a display of live animals of the Blue Hills. Sixteen historic structures tell fascinating tales of Native Americans, explorers, farmers, quarry workers, and inventors. The Weather Observatory sits atop the hill.

The Climbing Cave
The Climbing Cave at Camp Wind-in-the-Pines in Plymouth is fitted to look like a real cave, with outcroppings for bouldering (horizontal "climbing"). Helmets and headlights are available. The cave is heated for use all year. Use of the cave is free for our troops, and the experience is self-guided.  To make a reservation, email three possible dates to Lu-Ann Souza, three weeks before the earliest.
